Maryland is a member of what’s called the Interstate Compact on drivers’ licenses. If you have a Maryland driver’s license and receive a traffic violation from a different state, Maryland will report the conviction, but will not impose points. There are a few exceptions for very serious offenses.
So, if you are driving along in New York or North Carolina and you receive a speeding ticket, the ticket will appear on your Maryland traffic record, but you will not receive any traffic violation points in Maryland.
However, it is still important to at least consult with Maryland traffic ticket attorney prior to doing anything. A Maryland traffic lawyer will be able to review the ticket and your Maryland traffic record to determine the best course of action.
